The heart of a child -- sermon for Children's Sunday
Sorry, no text for this sermon. But you can recreate it yourself by looking at
the scripture passages below. Here's the question we started with:
How we approach the task of parenting depends alot on how we think
about children. Are they basically innocent -- blank slates that need to be
shielded from negative graffiti? That is the dominant perspective of our
culture. The book of Proverbs has a different take on children and the
task of parenting:
Proverbs on children and parents: 1:8-9; 13:24; 17:25; 19:18; 20:11; 22:6,15; 23:13-14;
29:15-17; 13:1; 17:21; 15:20; 7:1-3; 4:10-12; 15:32-33.
Other scripture on children and parents: Deuteronomy 6:4-25; Matthuew 18:1-14; Ephesians 6:1-4;
Colossians 3:20-21; Hebrews 12:11
